Letter | Thanks to community

The MIYFS Giving from the Heart Committee would like to thank our wonderful community for their support at the breakfast and around town on Feb. 9. We had close to 500 Islanders celebrating community connections at the breakfast, representing all aspects of our community. Additionally, we had an outpouring of support from our business community with 36 sponsors of the breakfast event, and 10 businesses stepping up to give 25 percent of their business that day to MIYFS. It was just a wonderful display of generosity across the board.
Proceeds from the event directly support Mercer Island Youth and Family Services, the human services department of the City of Mercer Island that touches every member of our community through family and emergency assistance, mental health counseling, senior outreach and advocacy, drug and alcohol prevention, arrested youth programs, youth development programs and a thriving thrift store.
We’re so lucky to live in a community that supports these critical services. If you missed the opportunity to contribute on the 9th, you can still donate to the Giving from the Heart campaign at www.miyfs.org.
