Thanks for the article about ORCA cards in the Reporter on May 4. I used mine for the first time a couple of days, and it is so easy to hold it up to the scanner on the bus and off you go. However, when I scanned mine on the ferry to Bainbridge Island, I didn’t know whether it had registered. So I scanned it again and later found out that I had been charged for two trips. Then I found out that there is a green light on the top of the turnstile to show you that you can enter.

I applied for my senior “Regional Reduced Fare Permit” card online and did not have to visit an ORCA Customer Service Office. Their web site is not user friendly, but their telephone service is good: (888) 988-6722. I hope this helps some future riders.
