If the city wants to look at privately owned land for a new swimming pool (the old East Seattle School/Boys and Girls Club land now owned by Michael O’Brien), it seems to me there are other more suitable locations. Both the Stevenson property, off Island Crest Way, and the lots just east of City Hall on 36th Street, offer better access and room for dedicated parking. No doubt these sites are expensive, but I’m sure our City Council could do some creative negotiating.
