Letter | Recommended doses of fluoride are safe

December 13, 2011 · 11:53 AM

I would like to respond to the article by Dr. Osmunson (Dec. 7) in which he points out the danger of fluoride. I agree that in high doses there is indeed a danger, but in recommended dosages it is safe and beneficial. It’s addition to the municipal water reservoirs to bring the level to an appropriate dosage is recommended by the American Dental Association, the CDC (Center for Disease Control) and many other reputable health organizations. The CDC has recognized “water fluoridation as one of 10 great public health achievements of the 20th century.”
