Letter | Bravo to Mercer Island firefighters
January 28, 2013 · 9:32 AM
Earlier this week I had an elderly visitor who suddenly developed what I thought could be a medical emergency. I called 911, and an aid unit was dispatched. I live near the North end fire station, and before I even hung up with the 911 dispatcher, I could see the aid truck coming down the street. Three aid technicians were here within a very few minutes of my initiating the call. They were superb — calm, cool, professional, and had the situation fully in hand.
Fortunately, the medical condition turned out not to be serious and the aid technicians left with things pretty much back to normal. As I think back on the experience, I am very happy to know that we on Mercer Island have such good public safety folks ready and able to assist when needed. Thank you!
