We are grateful that so many of our fellow residents have stepped forward to run for City Council. We appreciate the opportunity that a contested election gives us to weigh diverse viewpoints, and better understand the candidates.
We are a gregarious nation, and we select our leaders within that context — doorbelling, public debates and public appearances are important ways for us to decide between candidates. Equally important, and something that is not as easily determined within our campaign process, is the character and quality of the individuals we select to represent us.
We need decision makers who are smart, principled and dedicated to the best interest of our community. We want representatives that are open-minded, fair and thoughtful. While we do know some of the issues that will face us in the next year, there is no way that we can know or predict what additional challenges our community might face. Some of those issues will be emergent, others will be discovered only through the hard work of debate and discussion, in tedious, long meetings. We know that when those issues arise, when the debates are long, when the ‘right’ decision is not abundantly clear, we want a representative on the Council who we can count on — someone smart, thoughtful, fair and experienced.
Someone who makes decisions in the public interest. Someone like Benson Wong. That’s why Benson is our choice for City Council Position
#6. We hope you’ll join us in selecting him for our City Council.
