Stolen cheer

At this magical time of year, it is hard to believe that there are still people out there who try to steal Christmas. Ever since we moved to Mercer Island, we have tried to spread some holiday cheer to the residents of Mercer Island, especially the kids. Starting with Halloween and going strong through Christmas, we strive to make our front yard into an inviting place where people experience the joy of the season. Each year, we have added to our outdoor decorations, mainly Disney inflatables, in an attempt to make the Island feel even more magical. Neighbors from all over the Island drive by and enjoy a little holiday magic and cheer. It warms our hearts to give back to such a welcoming and generous community.

The other night, we had thieves come and steal a couple of our Disney inflatables. We are so incredibly disappointed. Not only did the thieves steal our property, they stole a part of the community’s happiness as well. Just like the people of Whoville from “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas,” we keep looking out our window, hoping that the theives will have a change of heart. While we are deeply saddened by this horrible loss, we know that the spirit of Christmas cannot be stolen. So, even though the display is missing a couple of inflatables, we dedicate our display to the people of Mercer Island and wish everyone a magical holiday season.
