Bicyclists must follow rules of the road

Why do bike riders not obey the law at crosswalks? So many times I see bicycle riders abusing their rights at intersections. If you are riding on the road you must stop at stop signs, not swerve to the right and cross on the crosswalk. If you are traveling at a speed which is impeding traffic you should pull onto the shoulder and let traffic pass. The worst and most dangerous thing I’ve noticed is bicyclists (some with their children) riding on the sidewalk then, without slowing, ride across the street on a crosswalk without dismounting. I’ve seen four near accidents in the downtown CBD in the last week and it is only a matter of time before some kid trying to keep up with her brother gets hit because they were never taught to stop at the crosswalk, dismount, look both ways and walk across the crosswalk. Years ago when most kids rode their bikes to school we had to pass a bicycle safety course to be able to ride the streets of MI. Parents, teach your children well, thanks.
