A light at Merrimount is wise
April 8, 2011 · Updated 2:55 PM
I completely oppose the disinvestment proposed for the Merrimount/Island Crest Way intersection. Why would we waste two lanes of Island Crest Way and erect obstructions, and reduce access to our wonderful library? I traverse this point several times most days, and rarely see anyone connecting with Merrimount.
Still, I would gladly pay for a light which honors demand and makes good use of the natural artery which is Island Crest Way.
As a city planner and a delighted resident concerned for our future, I do hope we will make use of the best technology available to us — an intelligent traffic light. My guess is that it would maximize safety as well.
