With the focus of a point guard

whose shot wins the game,

Ed has modeled perseverance

with amazing aim.

Half a century of coaching

and “nine-fifty” wins

paint a portrait of commitment

we’ll not see again.

On the hardwoods, Ed’s demanding.

Off-court, he inspires.

It’s a slam-dunk he’ll keep “coaching”

though he’s now retired.
