Our family has been a part of the Mercer Island music program for the last 14 years. Some of our fondest memories are captured in photos of our children performing with the MIHS marching band: our oldest son, dressed in drum major attire, leading the homecoming parade; our drill team daughter marching alongside the entire marching band in the Jungle; our youngest son performing for the first time in the drum line last fall. They have been a part of the Mercer Island community in a very visible, positive way. We suspect that wearing the MIHS uniform has brought a sense of school and community pride, not only to our children, but to countless MI students over the last 30 years. We strongly encourage Mercer Islanders to donate to the fundraiser to replace these well-loved, but very worn uniforms with clean, handsome and pleasant-smelling new ones. Current band students as well as future members who will someday be joining the ranks of the fabled Mercer Island High School marching band (think All-Island Band Night) will thank you for your generous support. (See www.mihsband.com for details and donation forms.)
