MISB needs assurances
April 21, 2009 · Updated 1:21 PM
The Mercer Island School Board should acquire, and retain on file, written assurance from U.S. Bank (the lender for PEAK) that adequate funding will be available to see it through to completion. This should be done before construction begins. The School Board and the City Council have accepted verbal assurances that sufficient funding is available. Times are tough, and many Island residents are skeptical. They need documented assurance that this public land will be used as intended. This is only prudent. We do not want PEAK to become a public ward. A lot of money is at stake. Let’s get this guarantee.
