Band uniforms

We, members of the March to March Uniform Campaign Committee, are extremely grateful for a truly inspiring gift of $3,640 from the Mercer Island Community Fund. This generous gift will purchase, for the Mercer Island High School marching band, 10 of the 350 new uniforms that will outfit the band this fall.

The Community Fund is a treasure for the people of Mercer Island.

For almost 25 years, a small group of citizens has been raising and distributing funds to improve and enhance community life. The Mercer Island Community Fund (MICF) regularly fulfills grant requests that benefit youth programs, preschools, retirees, the Boys & Girls Club, sports teams, the arts, community health programs, environmental awareness and many other community activities. We are so grateful that the MICF chose to support the high school band, a healthy, educational and fun activity for roughly one-fifth of the high school population, and a source of great entertainment and pride for the whole community.

We wondered if we might be a little crazy to be launching an ambitious fundraising campaign in times such as these. The confidence and steadfastness of many generous individuals and organizations like the Community Fund have moved us and reminded us that Mercer Island is an extraordinary town. We are so proud to be part of a community that truly honors its commitment to its youth.

We thank you, Mercer Island Community Fund! We hope our gratitude will show in the snappy steps of the smartly clad Mercer Island High School marching band this fall, and for many years to come.
