Trees, trash, meetings

Good for reader RT Andrews’ frustration letter about the poor hours and administration of the Recycle Center and sad experiences shared by many readers. Double good for the Reporter exposing, in widely media-reported schools’ budget problems, the Mercer Island School Board’s mahogany-row thinker type judgment in having retreats at posh private Bellevue clubs or pricey restaurants. Could the Reporter’s Speaking Out on the Island feature next include the following question: “Your reaction to Mercer Island schools and city government’s handling of East Mercer’s eagle tree development permit processing, Recycle Center and School Board retreats at posh clubs and restaurants?”

A little lengthy, but perhaps spicily productive?
