I am writing to express my support for Dave Myerson for School Board. I met Dave last year when we volunteered for a committee to help choose a new math curriculum for Mercer Island to meet the new Washington State 2008 Math Standards. During the year, I came to realize that Dave had spent the past decade trying to improve the math curriculum on Mercer Island.

Dave was well-versed in the history and politics of how and why the math curriculum changed on Mercer Island. He had done his own research and scholarship to understand what the best curriculum would be for our kids. Dave brought a great perspective to the committee and was advocating to ensure that the best choices were made for Mercer Island's

students.

I believe that with Dave Myerson on the School Board, the education and competitiveness of our children will improve. Further, it speaks well of Dave that he was involved in the Math Review Committee, although his kids would never receive the benefit of any curriculum changes. The committee was reviewing the K-5 curriculum, and Dave's kids are older. I am convinced that Dave has the community's best interests in mind.
