Thanks to bus drivers
June 1, 2010 · Updated 9:51 AM
There is a letter of thanks I have been meaning to write for a long time. It’s a letter thanking all those school bus drivers who not only demonstrate a very high level of professionalism and diligently watch out for the well-being of our Island children, but go above and beyond when it comes to being courteous to other drivers.
My schedule regularly puts me on East Mercer Way during the morning school bus operation as well as sometimes in the afternoon. These drivers show the greatest care for the children they transport. How they watch over them as they board and exit the bus is a marvel to me.
They put their schedule in second place by pulling off the road to allow cars to pass so they do not slow traffic, and they routinely do this for just one car. They show a courtesy and consideration that goes way beyond just doing their job, and display a genuine respect for the other road users.
They deserve our gratitude and praise.
