Adding another KingCo victory to their belts, the Mercer Island boys tennis team grabbed the honor of finishing first to win the league title last week.

The Islanders also finished the regular season undefeated.

At the KingCo tournament, held at the Mercer Island Country Club, the Islanders had two doubles teams competing in the championship match late last week.

Jared Thomas and Andrew Smith took first place, while Erik Snyder and Jeremy Chow finished second.

Head coach Jamie Dieveny said the two teams pushed each other through a tough three-set battle.

The doubles and singles tournament was still continuing after Reporter deadline on Tuesday afternoon.

In the singles competition, Jordan Smith, Zack Elliot and Glen Kelton were each in the running. The doubles team of David Peck and Derek Newhof were also still in contention.

The top four doubles teams and the top four singles players earn spots in the district tournament, held in the spring.
