The Mercer Island select fifth grade girls basketball team recently won its third tournament of the season in Snohomish. The team went undefeated in four games to reach the championship match in the 13th annual Snohomish MLK tournament.

The girls beat Woodinville, 38-13; Jackson, 52-12; Monroe, 32-13; Redmond, 40-22, and beat Glacier Peak, 40-18, in the championship game.

Claire Mansfield was named the tournament’s most valuable player in the fifth grade division.
