The Mercer Island boys select seventh grade ETL team finished with a second place in the silver division at the Martin Luther King AAU basketball tournament in Seattle in January.
The team won its first two pool games, including a big 54-46 win over the tournament champions Rotary Style Blue. The Islanders also beat the Pro Bound All-Stars, 58-21.
Mercer Island advanced to the semifinals against EBC Panthers, winning 60-33 and then taking on Rotary Style Blue once again for the title. The Islanders never recovered from an early deficit and lost 48-29.
