Evergreen State Open judo championships return in March | Sports briefs

The annual Evergreen State Open Judo Championships return this March to Mercer Island. Hosted by the Mercer Island Judo Dojo, the Evergreen state event will take place March 19 at Islander Middle School. The tournament begins with the junior weigh in from 8 to 9:15 a.m. and the seniors from 10:30 to 11 a.m.

The event is open to judo students who are members of USJF, USA Judo, USJA Judo B.C. or Judo Canada. Proof of current membership is required for registration.

The tournament will feature a modified double elimination tournament, while divisions with five or less athletes will be done in a round robin format.

Entries are $35 per student, and entries are due by Wednesday, March 15. Entries can be sent to Mercer Island Dojo, P.O. Box 1084, Mercer Island, Wa 98040. Email mercerislanddojo@hotmail.com for more information on the event.
