For the third time the season Mount Si stopped Mercer Island, but it was the first time this year the Wildcats kept the Islanders from scoring a run. Mount Si defeated the Islanders 5-0 in the second round of the KingCo tournament on Thursday evening.
Mercer Island recorded four hits during seven innings, and got as far as third base, but never were able to turn the final corner.
Mount Si's strong defensive game, including two double plays for the Wildcats to end innings, along with solid pitching game them a spot in the title game against Lake Washington.
The Islanders will face Sammamish, who lost to Lake Washington in the second round, on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue. The winner will face the loser of the Lake Washington vs. Mount Si title game for the fifth and final spot at state.
