For the first time this year, despite cloudy skies, students from St. Monica School joined the other three Mercer Island elementary schools for the annual All-Island Track Meet.
The four schools competed in events like the 50-meter dash, the softball throw and the soccer kick.
Students qualified for the All-Island meet after individual meets at each school.
Overall, West Mercer won its sixth straight championship with 277 points. Island Park finished second with 240, Lakeridge was third with 227 and St. Monica had 90 points.
The outstanding spirit award went to Lakeridge, while the outstanding sportsmanship award was given to St. Monica. Island Park was recognized for having the outstanding competitors at the meet.
The meet had several records broken. In the fifth grade girls shot put, Aolani Calderon from West Mercer set a new record of 9.25 meters, while Kayla Lee from Island Park ran the fifth-grade girls 800-meter race in 3:16.69.
Patrick Hanson of Lakeridge also set a fifth-grade 800-meter record with his time of 2:47.06.
