The Mercer Island basketball team will get some court time this weekend during the annual Kangs Klassic basketball tournament at Lake Washington High School.

The tournament, featuring local varsity and junior varsity squads, including the Islanders, will begin on Friday, June 17, and runs through June 19 with the championship games. All varsity games will be held at Lake Washington High School, while the JV tournament will be played at Kirkland Junior High. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors, and anyone age 11 and under is free.

The tournament will feature local teams such as Lake Washington, Bothell, Juanita and Woodinville, as well as Kentwood, Roosevelt, Stadium and Burlington Edison.

Games on Friday begin at 4:30 p.m. and run until 9:10 p.m., and continue Saturday starting at 9 a.m. The varsity championship game will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Mercer Island will play it's first game of the tournament at 4:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon in the auxiliary gym at Lake Washington High School. They will be taking on Redmond. The Islanders second game will be on Saturday morning against Roosevelt. That game has a 9 a.m. tip off.
