Mercer Cup event Aug. 13-14 at Islander Middle School | Sports brief

Aspiring soccer players can kick their game up to the next level with Performance Soccer Club’s Mercer Cup event, Aug. 13-14, at Islander Middle School.

The event, which is open to anyone in the U6 through U16 age groups, can register as teams or individuals. Scrimmages begin at 9 a.m. on Aug. 13, with a lunch provided for the participant. Players will also get to take place in a shootout contest and other events.

All participants get a free T-shirt. The first-place teams will get a $25 gift card.

The event is $145 per team or $20 as an individual. Boys & Girls Club members can earn a discount for registration.

On Sunday, the adult Pelada cup will take place at Islander Middle School from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event will feature teams randomly chosen based on the distribution of age groups that show up. There will be a barbecue after the game. The event is $20 per adult.
