Round the Rock race will feature 9/11 ceremony

In honor of the 9/11 anniversary, the third annual Round the Rock paddle race will feature a memorial ceremony on Sept. 11.

The paddle board race, which takes place the morning of the anniversary, will include the ceremony at 8:50 a.m., just after the meeting for the 13-mile event racers at Seward Park.

The ceremony will include the Eastside Pipes and Drum band.

The racing event features a pro race around Mercer Island with a $10,000 prize, a kids race, a team relay race, free public demos, music, food and vendors.

The event proceeds go to Seattle Children’s Hospital at Surfrider Foundation.
