Girls soccer

In the first KingCo match of the season, the Mercer Island girls soccer team lost to Lake Washington.

The Kangs won 1-0 after a late goal by Jessica Scovel, assisted by Sara Crauer in the 65th minute of the game.

The Islanders are 0-3 to start the season. The team will travel to play Juanita on Thursday evening.

Boys golf

The Islanders beat Liberty on Monday in the first KingCo match of the fall season. Mercer Island completed the competition with a team score of 206 strokes, while Liberty had 210. At Maplewood Golf Course, which has a par of 36, Islander Kevin Liu finished second with a 39, while TJ Marlatt and Danny Ito tied for fourth place with a 41.

Tennis

The Islanders earned a convincing tennis win on Tuesday afternoon, beating Mount Si 7-0 in the KingCo matchup. The Islanders lost just three sets during all games during the win.

In singles Ben Hou beat Camden Foucht 6-0, 6-0; Zack Elliot beat Josh Hamann 6-0, 6-0; Ben Elliott beat Nate Popp 6-0, 6-0; Josh Hartman beat Azhar Khandekar 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles Kyle Baska-Matt Seifirt beat Alex Pease-Jake Rouches 6-1, 6-0; Jeremy Chow-Cameron Coe beat Van Magnan-Jake Miller 6-0, 6-0; Rafa Gonzalez-Marcus Almquist beat Kevin McLaughlin-Matthew Griffin 6-1, 6-1.

Volleyball

The Islanders beat Juanita on Monday evening, winning 3-1.

Mercer Island lost the first game 26-24, but came back to win the next three 25-19, 25-12 and 25-15.

The Islanders are currently 3-0 this season.
