The Mercer Island boys tennis team won the KingCo title last weekend. The team won both the singles and doubles titles during the competition, which finished Saturday at the Mercer Island Country Club.
"It was a very exciting tournament," said head coach Jamie Dieveney.
In the finals Jordan Smith beat Zack Kosanke of Bellevue, by default. Dieveney said Smith did not lose a game during the entire tournament. Smith's younger brother Henry took third overall, while Brian Hou finished fourth in singles.
In the doubles championship, it was an all Mercer Island affair with Zack and Ben Elliot facing off against Kyle Baska and Marcus Almqivst.
Their coach said the brothers held on for the third set tie breaker win to get the title. The final score for that match was 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (6).
The team's third doubles pair of Matt Seifirt and Jeremy Chow finished in fifth place.
Dieveney was also named the coach of the year for the conference.
