Islander earns top 1,000 finish in NYC marathon | Sports brief

Mercer Island resident Grant Scull ran in the New York City Marathon on Nov. 6 and finished in the top 1,000 racers.

Scull crossed the finish like 2:58.42 after starting, for a 979 place finish overall.

It was Scull's first New York City marathon, but the six he's competed in.
