Islanders earn top finish in USA Track's National Club Cross Country championships | Sports brief

Several Mercer Island residents recently completed in the 2011 USA Track and Field National Club Cross Country championships.

The USA open and master's men's 10k and open and master's women's 6k took place on Dec. 10 at Jefferson Park Golf Course in Seattle.Over 1,000 runners competed in the event.

The Club Northwest masters women took the team title, with Susan Empey taking second place and Dyan Simon took third.

Sandra Selby was first on the Eastside Runners team, which took sixth overall.
