The Mercer Island boys swim team got a test on Tuesday afternoon at Mary Wayte Pool. The Islanders hosted a non-league meet against Shorewood and Newport.

Mercer Island beat both teams, taking down Shorewood with a 132-54 score and Newport with a 103-80 score.

Shorewood, a team which finished third in last year's state 3A state swim and Newport, which finished fourth in the 4A state meet, provided a strong test for the Islanders about halfway through the regular season.

Signorelli earned a personal win in the 200 individual medley race, posting a 2:04.86 time. In the diving competition Cody Hall finished in third place with a score of 293.55. His teammate Connor Nielson took fourth with 275.60 points.

Austin Ralph posted a 59.25 time for third place in the 100 butterfly race, Caldwell was fourth at 59.95 and Karl MacLane was fifth with a 1:00.28 time. All three qualified for the district meet.

In the 100 freestyle, Weiss earned another win with a 49.23 time, qualifying for state, while Samuel Chong finished third with a 51.20 time. Noah Deiparine took second place in the 500 freestyle marathon in 5:16.51, while the Islanders 200 freestyle relay team took first. The group of Caldwell, Signorelli, Weiss and Matthew Fukuda finished in 1:32.61. MacLane was seventh in the 100 backstroke race in 1:06.35, and Bower was first in the 100 breaststroke race in 1:06.75. The Islander's also finished first in the 400 meter relay in 3:38.27 with Chong, Deiparine, Caldwell and Signorelli.
