Mercer Island U17 team plays in Founders Cup tournament

The U17 Islanders, a select soccer team on Mercer Island, recently played in the Founder's Cup, making it all the way to the championship game.
The team was undefeated during the season with a 12-0 record, outscoring opponents 56-6.
The team earned a spot in the semi-finals after beating teams from Vashon, Seattle and Federal Way. They also beat 2011 Founders Cup finalists PSC Hurricanes 2-0.
In the title game the Islanders lost 2-0 to Crossfire O'Melia.
The team includes: McKenzie Schlamp, Erik Dekker, Blake Wright, Douglas McLellan, Geoffrey Leach, Alexandre Vesselle, Jack Allenbaugh, Tyler Nakagawa, Alberto Perez Araluce, David Woolston, Matthew Valuet
Erik Laszlo, David Adler, Jacob Eisner, John-Eric Nader, Grant Hilfinger and Nathanael van der Veen.
The team is coached and trained by Zeke Halilovic.
