In a Monday night conference game, Lake Washington blasted past Mercer Island’s baseball team, thanks in large part to a nine run third inning for the Kangs. The final score was 11-4.
The Kangs had an early 2-1 lead at the end of the first inning, followed by a scoreless second round, but in the third things got going. Mercer Island started things off with three runs in the top of the inning, but Lake Washington expolded at bat, scoring nine runs to take the 11-4 lead. The score stayed that way through the next four innings for both teams.
Lake Washington scored 11 on 10 hits and three errors, while Mercer Island had 11 hits for four runs with five errors.
During the game, Nick Holstead was 1-4 with a double, while Mack Schlamp was 3-4 at the plate with two RBI and a double. Zach Rothenber scored a run, as did Nick Chandler, Chris Lawler and Brandon Lawler.
Mercer Island hosts Mount Si on Tuesday night in a 6 p.m. game, while Lake Washington will play Juanita on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
