Mercer Island pounds Garfield to win by 12 points | Prep girls lacrosse

The Mercer Island girls lacrosse team beat Garfield by 12 points on Thursday evening, winning 21-9.

The Islanders, who are now 7-2-1 this season, hold the No. 1 spot in the girls Alki Conference.

During the game against Garfield, Tyler Sherper had five goals, three assists, three ground balls and two draw controls. Teammate Madison Blackburn had five goals, three ground balls and two draw controls, while Katie Harris had three goals, 1 assist and two draw controls. Saffron Snethen posted three goals in the win, with three draw controls, while goalie Erika Eagan had nine saves.

The team will host Ballard at 8 p.m. on Monday, April 30.
