Mercer Island looks to secure top spot in KingCo | Prep boys soccer

The Mercer Island boys soccer team is just one win away from securing the top spot in the KingCo league, and earning a ticket to the state tournament.
The Islanders beat Liberty 2-1 on Tuesday night and will face Mount Si on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The No. 1 team from KingCo earns the No. 1 seed from District 2 going into this springs 3A state tournament. The No. 2 team in KingCo must square off against Metro opponents to win their way into the tournament.
Against Liberty on Tuesday, the Islanders struck first with a Josh Lee goal, assisted by Jordan Morris in the third minute.The team scored again, this time with Alex Wood hitting the mark, assisted by Lee in the 11th minute.
Liberty battled until the 46th minute when Josh Johnson, assisted by Erick Warlick, scored the Patriots only point.
The Islanders will host Mount Si Friday night, which will also be senior night, honoring Mercer Island’s 12 seniors.
