Mercer Island soccer team prepares for U.S. regional tournament | Sports brief

The U17 Eastside FC 94 Red boys soccer team, from Mercer Island, won the U.S. Youth Soccer Washington state championships and have qualified to move forward to the Regional tournament.
The team will compete in the Region IV Championships this June in Phoenix, Arizona.
The regional event includes the top teams in the U12 through U19 divisions, beginning with round robin games, followed by single elimination matches. The championships will be held on Sunday, June 24.
Regional winners earn spots to the 2012 U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships, held in July in South Carolina.
