Mercer Island wins KingCo tournament | Prep girls tennis

After a solid regular season, the Mercer Island girls tennis team won the KingCo tournament on Friday afternoon in Kirkland.
In the singles competition Nora Tan battled teammates Melanie Lee in the all Mercer Island final. Tan won 6-0, 6-2.
The doubles final was another all Islander event, with Sophia Gage and Lydia Venditti beating Caroline Dillon and Gabby Venditti 7-6, 6-4. The team of Ashley Larson and Jamie Mounger beat Juanita to take fourth and earn a spot in the district tournament.
Carissa Ham was fifth in the singles tournament, and will serve as an alternate to districts.
The girls team will join the Mercer Island boys this week in the SeaKing district tournament, beginning Tuesday, May 15 at Lower Woodland Park in Seattle. The top five advance to the state tournament.
