Former Mercer Island resident shines with University of Missouri baseball team

Former Mercer Island resident Andreas Plackis is a redshirt junior playing with the University of Missouri baseball team.
Plackis grew up on Mercer Island, continuing through 10th grade before the family moved to Missouri.
Since then he joined the Missouri baseball team, playing for the past four years, this season at first base. Plackis will forgo his final season of eligibility after getting accepted medical school.
This season he's been on a 13-game hitting streak, fourth best in the Big 12 Conference and the longest active streak. He leads the Missouri team with a .317 batting average.
