Mercer Island takes fourth at state | Prep girls lacrosse

After falling to Bainbridge in the state semifinals, the Mercer Island girls lacrosse team played Lakeside Saturday morning for third/fourth place. The Islanders finished fourth after losing 12-5 against the Lions.
The Islanders scored the first goal, but Lakeside quickly made up ground, holding a 5-3 lead at the end of the first half. Lakeside scored seven more in the second, holding the Islanders to just two.
Madison Blackburn had two goals during the game, with two draw controls, while Tyler Sherper added one goal and two draw controls. Elena Skouras added a goal and caused a turnover. Saffron Snethen posted one goal, four ground balls and four caused turnover, while Hannah Paborsky have five ground balls. Erika Eagan made six saves during the game.
The Islanders finished the season with a 12-4-1 record.
