Local softball program holding tryouts for next season | Sports briefs

The Flame Fastpitch girls select softball program will be holding tryouts for the team's 2012-2013 season.

Currently there are eight girls from Mercer Island playing with the program this year, and others are encouraged to tryout.

Girls born from 1996 through 2003 are eligible to try out in one of four age groups.

Tryouts will be held at Dodds Fields, located at 565 NW Holly Street in Issaquah.

Girls ages nine through 12 will tryout Thursday, Aug. 9 from 5 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, Aug. 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Girls ages 13 through 16 will tryout on Friday, Aug. 10 from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All players interested in trying out for the teams should register online at the team's website www.flamefastpitch.org.
