Mercer Island beats Bellevue in overtime | Prep girls soccer

The Mercer Island girls soccer team beat KingCo rival Bellevue in overtime on Tuesday night. The Islanders won 1-0.

The teams battled to a 0-0 tie at the end of regulation, and went into two overtime periods. After the first ended with no score, the second overtime began and almost ended with still no score, but senior Alexi Odegard hit the winning shot on an assist from Marissa Hammerstrom with 87:00 minutes on the clock. Goalie Corey Goelz was credited with the shutout.

The Islanders are 6-0-1 in league this season and 8-0-1 overall.

Mercer Island will host Lake Washington on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m.
