Mercer Island clinches KingCo title after shutting out Bellevue | Boys prep tennis

The Mercer Island boys tennis team finished out the regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 9 with a dominating win over Bellevue. The win also secured the team the KingCo regular season title. The Islanders shut out their KingCo rivals 7-0.
In the singles competition, Brian Hou beat Nick LaCava 6-1, 6-2, Henry Smith beat Elton Lom 6-1, 6-1, Zack Elliott beat Michael Zhao 6-2, 6-1 and Max Tilden beat Kevin Lee 6-1, 7-6.
In doubles, the pair of Ben Elliott and Charlie Williams took on Dion Gagafi and Chris Graham, winning 6-3, 6-0. Kyle Baska and Cameron Coe beat Chase Olson and Michael Smythies 6-2, 6-1 and Josh Hartmann and Spencer Dillon beat Nick Willingham and Kyto Akagi.
The Islanders will travel to Mount Si High School next week for the beginning of the KingCo tournament. The tournament begins Tuesday, Oct. 16 and runs through Thursday, Oct. 18.
