Two Mercer Island residents, who attend schools off the Island, have qualified for the 3A boys state golf tournament next spring.

Seniors Michael Schaloum, a student at O'Dea and Andy Ehrig, a student at Eastside Catholic, will play next spring after qualifying during the SeaKing District golf tournament on Monday, Oct. 22.

Schaloum shot a 74 during the championships, while Ehrig hit 75. The tournament was held at Willows Run Golf Course in Redmond.

It's the second straight state tournament appearance for both players.
