The Mercer Island volleyball team advanced to the SeaKing District semifinals on Thursday night, beating Holy Names 3-0. The Islanders earned a bye going into the tournament after winning the KingCo tournament the weekend before.

Against the Cougars, the Islanders won 25-17, 25-22 and 25-21.

Brooke Behrbaum had five kills, Kris Brackmann added seven aces, Sara Lindquist had 15 kills and two aces, while Lottie MacAulay had three blocks. Carly Wilson had 30 assists during the games, Jemma Yeadon had 11 kills and Lorial Yeadon had 10 digs.

The Islanders will face Bainbridge on Saturday, Nov. 3 in an 11 a.m. match at Chief Sealth High School. The Spartans advanced after beating Bellevue 3-0 on Thursday night.

A win for Mercer Island over Bainbridge would move the team into the championship match on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. against the winner of the Mount Si vs. Lakeside game. If Mercer Island loses they will play in the third/fourth place match at 5:30 p.m. at Chief Sealth. Win or lose Mercer Island has a guaranteed spot in the 3A state tournament.
