The Mercer Island girls swim team won the state championship last weekend, and the 200 freestyle relay team won the individual title, setting a new state record in the process.
Sabrina Kwan, Grace Wold, Christina Williamson and Alex Seidel swam to a new state record in 1:37.12, beating the old record of 1:37.77. It's the first time since 1996 the Islanders have won the event at state, and set the new fastest time for all classifications in Washington.
