Mercer Island defeats Liberty | Girls prep basketball

The Mercer Island girls basketball team beat Liberty on Wednesday, Dec. 19. The final score was 53-46.
Mercer Island was up 27-19 at the end of the first half, and added 13 points in the third quarter, followed by 13 in the fourth to secure the win.
Jessica Blakeslee had 14 points during the win for Mercer Island, while Renae Tessem added 12 points. Kris Brackmann had nine on the scoreboard, while Rachael Tessem added eight. Julia Blumenstein had four points, Yesmeen El-Rafey posted two for the team, as did Jamie Mounger and Christina Williamson.
The Islanders also beat Mount Si the Friday before, winning 36-24 over the Wildcats.
The team will travel to play Interlake on Friday, Dec. 21 in a 6:30 p.m. game.
