Mercer Island holds off Lake Washington | Boys prep basketball

Mercer Island held off KingCo foe Lake Washington on Tuesday night, beating the Kangs 59-41.

The Islanders were up 14-12 over Lake Washington, now a 2A school, and extended the lead to 32-21 at halftime.

Though the Kangs scored 20 points in the second half, they couldn’t make up the deficit from the first half to over take Mercer Island, which added 27 points in last two quarters.

Joe Rasmussen had 26 points in the match, while Nick Nordale added 12 pionts for the team. Kaleb Warner had 11 points, with Jake Stenberg added six overall. Espen Platou and Max Tilden each had two points.

Mercer Island will travel to play Juanita on Friday, Jan. 11 in an 8 p.m. game.
