Mercer Island beats Lake Washington for 10th win | Girls prep basketball

The Mercer Island girls basketball team hosted Lake Washington on Wednesday, Jan. 9 and picked up the team’s 10th win this season, beating the Kangs 47-39.
Mercer Island led the game 24-14 at halftime and extended the lead in the third quarter to 35-27. Lake Washington surged in the final minutes of the game, scoring 12 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Islanders early lead.
Kris Brackmann posted 20 points for the Islanders in the win, while Jessica Blakeslee had eight points. Jamie Mounger, Rachael Tessem and Christina Williamson each had six points in the game and Julia Blumenstein added one point.
The Islanders will travel to Juanita on Friday, Jan. 11 for a 6:30 p.m. game against the Lady Rebels.
