Mercer Island beats Juanita, improves to 13-1 | Boys prep basketball

The Mercer Island boys basketball team improved their overall season record to 13-1 on Friday night with a 65-35 win over Juanita.
Mercer Island, now 8-0 in conference, jumped to the early 21-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. The team was up 35-10 at the end of the first half. Juanita outscored Mercer Island 12-11 in the third quarter, but the Islanders hit 19 to the Rebels 13 points in the final minutes to take the win.
Joe Rasmussen had 18 points during the game, while junior Kaleb Warner added 13 points to the total. Nick Nordale hit nine, Max Tilden added six while Jake Shaddle and Jake Stenberg each posted five points. Espen Platou had four points overall, while Will Taylor and Teddy van der Velden each had two points. Brothers Alex and David Emanuels had one point each.
Mercer Island will host Sammamish on Tuesday, Jan. 15 and Interlake on Friday, Jan. 18.
