Mercer Island defeats Mount Si | Boys prep basketball

The Mercer Island boys basketball team kept their league record perfect Tuesday night, beating Mount Si 75-51.

The Islanders are now 11-0 in league and 16-1 overall.

Against the Wildcats, Mercer Island jumped to an early 21-6 lead at the end of the first quarter, but allowed Mount Si to outscore them 14-13 in the second quarter.

After the break though, Mercer Island revved up and never looked back, hitting 21 in the third and 20 in the fourth to run away with the win.

Islander junior Kaleb Warner posted 26 points in the win, thanks to seven three-point scores, while Nick Nordale had 15 points and Joe Rasmussen added 10. Espen Platou had seven points, Jake Shaddle added six, while David Emanuels, Nikhil Misra and Jake Stenberg each had three points. Max Tilden had two points overall.

Mercer Island will play against Bellevue on Friday, Jan. 25 at Bellevue High School. The game will begin at 8 p.m.
