Mercer Island beats Roosevelt to wrap regular season | Boys prep swimming

The Mercer Island boys swimming team earned a final win of the regular season on Friday, Jan. 25, beating Roosevelt 104-75.
The Islanders started off the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay, with the team of Austin Ralph, Noah Deiparine, Duncan Koontz and Ian Caldwell in 1:45.21.
Ben Gore won the 200 freestyle race in 1:54.34 and Deiparine earned the top finish in the 50 freestyle sprint, with a 22.78 time. Koontz won the 100 freestyle race in 52.02 seconds and Tanner Martinez won the 500 freestyle race, finishing in 5:14.61.
Roosevelt won the 200 and 400 freestyle relay events, but Koontz won the 100 backstroke in 1:02.06. Samuel Chong was the top finisher in the 100 breast stroke race in 1:05.14.
The Islanders will begin the post season with the KingCo championship meet on Friday and Saturday Feb. 1-2 at the UW Swimming Pool.
